When The Monolators folded in 2012 Mary and Eli traded in their drum kit for an iPad and continued as Dawn of Sequins. DOS carried on the Monolators’ songwriting preoccupations but with drum machines, synths, guitars, and saxophones instead of the original drums/bass/guitar lineup.
Dawn of Sequins reunited for a one-off show with Sean Carnage in 2022 at the Oracle Tavern with Chaki Funk Wizard, DJ Kyle Mabson, and the one and only Fagenstein!
Discography
Dawn of Sequins, 2013 Cassette. The self-titled DOS album came out on Geoff Geis’s Vanity Projects label in 2013. Lots of favorites on here but I’m especially fond of “Some Secrets” and “Medallion,” which has worked its way into live Tarantula sets.
